when i got off for lunch today i decided to go to the walmart deli and get something to eat.
it is a huge store, groceries, a bakery, mc donalds, a bank , eye center, beauty shop, a great deli, and a huge garden center.
i had taken back a 80 gig hard drive dvd recorder ( i couldn't figure out how to hook up <smile> and had received 238.00. i picked up a couple of things in the store then went to the deli.
Having read through this massive long thread - I have to say I dont see any attack being made, it seemed quite respectfully discussed to me. There of course was some direct statements and disagreement, along with sarcasm. This is a discussion forum and if someone starts a thread its usually to get a discussion going, certainly Annie has accomplished that. Most people lurk here before posting, and my suspision is that she would have realised the type of reaction that post may have produced. Anyhow it seems to me that a balance has been struck up here, to show Annie that its purely people putting their oppinions and no harm is being meant. My own point of view is that Jehovah didnt answer her prayer, and she got lucky.
Anyway welcome Annie and come back soon - you have a way with the forum (I dont think I could have raised a subject that got this many replies, lol).

how many xjws are there out there?
how many xjws know the truth about the troof?
are there now more xjws than there are active witnesses?
Excellent point Black Sheep! I do more talking about it with people now than I ever would have whilst I was a Witness, the motivation before was guilt and flimsy reasonings, but now its personal experience!

luke 21:8 - he replied: "watch out that you are not deceived.
for many will come in my name, claiming, 'i am he,' and, 'the time is near.
' do not follow them.. this scripture clearly says those claiming to be christ, warning of the end approaching and that we shouldn't follow them.
Simple and straight forward, as I keep saying - you simply MUST read the bible for yourself to see the truth in it.

this is a difficult thing for me to do, i used to be a jehovahs witness 20 years service as a pioneer.. last thursday it was announced from the platform at my local kingdom hall that i was disfellowshiped.. it was a bit of a shock.
i still have a deep sence of anger at what happened to me and its so unfair.. it started 3 years ago when i began to feel ill and i missed a couple of meetings.
the elders were wonderful and came round and cheered me up.
Welcome to the forum and thanks for the good post. Unfortunately you have been judged on the outward signs of your christianity as per the watchtowers rules. Once your meeting attendance and/or field service goes down, your suddenly undesirable to the congregation, your viewed as weak and probably bad association (they are encouraged to keep to the inner most part of the cong.) What you have witnessed here is the true state of love in a JW congregation - its conditional. As horrible as it is to go through this, it has allowed your mind to be jolted into thinking again, and could well be a platform to moving on from them. It can be a difficult transition to move away from them, but a rewarding one. Keep talking here and one suggestion I always make is for people to read the NT all the way through over a couple of weeks in context and see what it really says. Be courageous, and take care

please escuse the obvious stones lyrical referance but thats the first thing that came to mind.
i am a 44 yo male fader from pennsylvania.
been faded for 22 years or so and been lurking and reading all of your posts for 6 or so months.
Great opening post, crazy how after all that time there is still a condition to your being included in the family. What do they really have to fear by your differing opinion if they have the truth? If its that easy to be lead away then what does that say about it?

but they don't realize that what the bible says about blood is not the real reason why they refuse blood transfusions.
therefore what the bible says at matthew 24:34 is not the real reason they believed it.
here too the real reason will only show up if the society ever changes what it teaches about blood transfusions.
We all know the truth of this, what the society says goes, this is how they manage to change rules and docrine so relatively easily, without the rank and file blinking an eye.

i'm not but i bet that there are some that quiety worry about it.....what about you?
?
I might have twitched over a disaster on the news, much in the way your knee jerks when its tapped in a certain way, but now the conditioning has long gone I realise Armageddon isnt coming, it was just the fear instilled in us to keep a good (and active) dub.

"it is you jehovah your god has chosen to become his people.
are jw children born into god's chosen nation?
after pentecost 33 c.e., every individual...had to make a personal dedication to god and be baptized.
Very good review, many thanks Blondie - btw I love your new avatar, simply stunning! I especially liked the verse talking about repentance and works being used to determine if a witness should be DF or not - completely out of context, if only the rank and file would read the Bible for themselves, they would see things like this.

have you ever seen a congregation not raise enough hands to make a resolution pass?
I can remember that at the hall I attended, we had to vote each year based on the Elders recomendation of which time we wanted the Sunday meeting or which days in the week we wanted the school/service meeting and bookstudy group. Well one year it was the congregations turn to pick the weekday meetings, and the two options given were school/service on tuesday or thursday. Now I liked to get that meeting out of the way so I wanted early in the week, but all the Elders wanted it on Thursday - maybe to give more time to prepare talks? Anyway I can remember the vote was close but it fell on the Tuesday. One Elders face as he was looking round at who voted for the in effect 'rogue' time was distinctly unhappy. So he arranged for the vote to be done again another time as he said a few were away, his face was an even better picture as we one again by a still marginal count.
